                                    Saying hello and goodbye

It is polite to say, “Hello” when you 
see someone you know during the day.
In the morning, the first time you see people, you should say, “Good morning.”
When you pass someone in the hallway say, “Hi.”
If someone introduces you to someone you do not know you could say, “Nice to meet you.”
When someone is leaving for the day, you can say, “Goodbye,” or “See you later.”
You could also say, Have a nice day!
When someone is going to bed, you can say, Good night.”

The difference between a / an is that an is used before words that begin with vowel sounds. And, it is used before words that begin with consonant sounds.

Examples:

a dog = um cachorro
an elephant = um elefante
a girl = uma garota, uma menina
an artist = um artista (homem), ou uma artista (mulher).
